UK: £5 and £2 stake limits for online slots take effect

The UK Gambling Commission published its guidance on online slot stake limits on 30 January 2025. The first limit took effect on 9 April 2025, and Gates of Olympus, as an online slot, falls under it for players in Great Britain.

What the rules say

  • A maximum of £5 per game cycle for players aged 25 and over, from 9 April 2025.
  • A lower maximum of £2 per game cycle for players aged 18 to 24, from 21 May 2025.
  • A minimum of 2.5 seconds between game cycles.
  • The limits apply to online slots only. They do not apply to roulette or blackjack.

What it means for Gates of Olympus players

The maximum stake applies to every spin, so a UK player cannot bet above the limit on any version of Gates of Olympus. The limit does not change the game’s RTP, volatility or win caps, but it scales what a cap is worth: a maximum win stated as a multiple of the stake is a smaller amount at £5 than at the higher stakes allowed in some other markets.

The 2.5-second minimum between game cycles also matters. It sets a floor on how quickly a session can run, whatever the game’s own animations allow.

Other differences for UK players

UK-facing versions of Pragmatic Play slots are typically offered without buy features, so check the game’s info screen for the features your operator provides. The bonus-buy and ante options described on our version pages may not appear for players in Great Britain.
