Five years ago, in February 2021, Pragmatic Play released Gates of Olympus. It has since become one of the company’s best-known slots, and Pragmatic Play describes it in its own announcements as one of its most popular and successful slots ever. It is also the template for a growing family of games.
What the original introduced
The original played on six tumbling reels with no paylines: eight or more matching symbols anywhere on screen pay, winning symbols disappear, and new ones drop in until no more wins appear. Random multiplier orbs of up to 500× are added to the win, and four or more scatters award 15 free spins in which the multipliers accumulate. The official RTP is 96.50%.
A timeline of the series
- February 2021: Gates of Olympus, with orbs up to 500× and a maximum win of 5,000×.
- December 2023: Gates of Olympus 1000, which doubled the orb ceiling to 1,000× and tripled the maximum win to 15,000×.
- December 2024: Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000, a festive edition of the 1000.
- April 2025: Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, with a Super Scatter symbol and a 50,000× maximum win.
- December 2025: Fortune of Olympus, a separate Olympus-themed game with a different 7×7 cluster format.
What stayed constant, and what moved
Across the series, the core remained the same: pay-anywhere wins, tumbles and multiplier orbs. What changed was the ceiling. Each release raised the top of the range, from 5,000× to 15,000× and then to 50,000×, while the headline RTP stayed around 96.5%. That pattern is worth remembering when you choose a version: a bigger maximum shifts the distribution of results toward rarer, larger rounds. It does not raise the return.
